Birthday in Brugge

For my birthday, Marshall scheduled a trip for our family to go to Brugge, Belgium for the day. We had to leave at 2 am- UGH! Hannah's boyfriend, Martin, lives in Belgium so he rode the train and met us there. It is a quaint and charming town. The day was sunny and gorgeous and actually got very warm for this part of the world. I had a wonderful day! We road boats around the canals that run throughout the city. It is known as "little Venice" because of all the canals. Marshall also took me on a horse drawn carriage around the town. We got to see famous Belgian lace being made- unbelievable to see the work it takes to make lace by hand- I would never have that kind of patience. We bought loads of Belgian chocolate- YUM! But by far the best food item of the day were the Belgian waffles. Seriously - they were to die for. They are SO much better than any Belgian waffle that I ever had anywhere else. In this case the real thing is WAY better than the imitation. We got back home around 1 am the next morning. Very long day- but a wonderful experience!
